My car didn't start today when I turn the key to "start", there's no engine sound. All other electric power is working fine, including radio, a/c etc..
This happened often before, but usually I leave the key on "start" for like 5 sec and engine start. maybe the connection inside ignition switch is loose..

does anyone have similar problem?

it just has no click sound when I turn to "start". what can it be?any idea?

I would say the contacts in your starter are gone. This happened on my 300. But I am not familiar with the 400. I pulled the starter and had a shop get some new contacts and install them in the solenoid for 15$. Then reinstalled the starter and no more problem. But I don't think removal of the starter is so easy (the first time is never easy) on the FE because it is located beneath the intake manifold.

I have had that same problem before and for some reason the shifter wasn't totally engaged in the park position. It was in park but I guess just not touching a sensor?
Anyway try manually putting it in neutral and try starting it that way, that might be your problem.

 

The battery could have enough juice to power the lights and such but not have enough juice to turn the starter. This has happened to me before.

 

How many miles on the car?
follow all other suggestions before trying to take the starter out . From the shop manual, its located just above the intake manifold. A lot of stuff need to be taken out before you'll see the starter.

Hope it something else beside the starter solenoid

 

If the starter is below the intake like "awj" said, we're in big trouble when the starter is out. Too much F*()king work just to rplace a starter

In fact, this was the same advice you gave me when I posted the same question nearly a year ago. You or quick(it was both of you). I'm just going on my experience and the knowledge that toyota starters lose their contacts over a long period of service time. Sure, try these other recommendations - they are fine, but I would think that if one is asking the question on the internet that one has already tried these options and is left with out a vehicle that will start.

 

It happened to me, but could find out the problem. I took off the battery cable and clean it up, it works great.

 

Thanks guys, I was just able to start it.. for now.
I used other battery I have, same it didn't start.
I looked at the repair manual about removing starter, seems lots of work, it'd be my last choice.

so what I did was...hit around the ignition switch with my hand(with some anger)..she started!! I'm assuming that previous owner had after market security system or something. i'm not sure..
but I'll look into the wire inside the ignition switch.
