I've only experienced that kind of takeoff issue with clutch chatter from a weak pressure plate. If your driveshaft dampner was the issue it would do it at other times as well, not just one time.

I doubt it's PP because he would be slipping bad in 3rd once he spooled if that were the case. It does not sound like that is happening. It seems like a vibration farther down the line. Because it looks like it was doing it much worse during a turn, it almost behaves like a tight clutch type LSD. OP, do you have LSD?

I agree the pressure plate is likely not the issue, but the clutch chatter I experienced was more the point. At no other time is he working the clutch out slowly. This would point to a glazed clutch disk, which I have seen as a result of pressure plate issues, hence the chattering as the end result.

Yeah that's true. Even so, it almost sounds like the clutch is fully engaged and he is no longer modulating once the shaking gets really bad. Not sure though. He could try creeping in 1st until the clutch is fully engaged and then roll into it and see what happens.

no lsd in the car or at least not that i know of...it doesn't matter if the clutch is fully engaged or not it'll still vibrate during that speed. one of my buddies told me he had a similar problem w/ his old eagle talon tsi awd and it ended up being the driveshaft u joint.

btw when it vibrates it sounds like metal is hitting each other and it does feel like it's coming from the rear.

not mines but gonna have to check to see if it's doing this..

i'd check all that stuff. on the outside that you can look at. but im betting money on the clutch chatter...

do you have a sprung or unsprung disc?

like everyone else sugested. i'd also check to make sure the flywheel isn't warped.

Another thing to check is that the driveshaft center bearing bolts are tight.

i was going to say check the center bearing. my car does it only when taking off and once i changed to a 1 piece driveshaft it all went away. glad you got it worked out though man.

ok here's another update. finally had some more time off and went under the car to check and what do you know, it's doing the same thing as the vid of a bad u joint i posted above is doing. it's the u joint closes to the transmission. i'm pretty sure that's not normal. here's the vid i did just now,

btw where i can buy a u joint for my car, auto parts store don't seem to carry them and i tried looking at Sewell Lexus website but they don't sell it separately.

Wow. yeah I would say that u-joint is toast. Not sure where to find a replacement. It almost looks like a non-serviceable part based on the stamp marks inside the cap bore. In a replaceable u-joint, you will typically have removable retainer clips in the bore.

More importantly, it is hard to tell, but it looks like the ear has a hairline crack in it. Maybe its just a casting ridge, but you may want to look into that.

Honestly, it may be easier just to get a good used shaft assembly.
