update, bought a master window switch, but still no luck. is it possible that even if you replace the master window switch, and it still doesn't work, does that mean that the passenger switch might be the problem, does the passenger side window switch have an effect of the master window switch not working?

Do what 93SC300. told you to try.
Find wiring diagram then bypass it, if no go, then the regulator is weak and need's to be replaced.

To bypass the switch? Or search on the internet?

To bypass the switches, simply remove the switch, and touch the two wires together.
The wiring diagram for the power windows will be in the shop manual if you have one.
Cheers

You could test the regulator by putting by removing it and passing 12V current through it. ( I know it's not to easy, but hey, things could be WAY worse!)
Remove the door panel and visually watch what happens when you press the switch to close the window. If it jerks, it's not totally gone. If nothing, it is most likely an electrical harness or connector. Search through the system by locating a diagram, (ANY CL?) and finding loose connectors and such.
Cheers!

It's the wiring in the drivers door. I had to re-wire Cal's door for the exact same issue on his SC. If you look in the harness where it goes through the door you'll see the spot the wire is broken at, it'll have some damage. It's usually inside the actual flex loom of the door hinge. There are 6 wires coming from the switch that are responsible for this action and one of them will pretty much be broken in half.
