Stuck stranded, keep blowing ig sw fuse (ignition switch) fuse on kick panel, Windows are stuck down sunroof open. I'm stuck infront of my daughters school.... Keep putting the 40 amp in keeps blowing. I'm bout to put a bigger fuse just to get the car started, anyone have any ideas what's causing this
Dont neccessarily have to have done anything....could just be an old bare wire shorting against another wire or something. Trace ur ign wire and see if its bare or pinched or something
check you harness in the drivers fender well. If you car is lowered it might have eaten through that guard and into the harness and you have some wires crossing
Had my car on the lift today no wires chewed up, I did a tuck a while back, but only put it up higher. None of the wires are even showing. Ripped apart the bottom portion of my dash, got some schematics of the fuse box diagrams. But don't know where to start. I keep blowing the ig sw fuse. Would the ignition switch relay have anything to do with it? Or should I put a breaker in where the fuse keeps blowing and see if something starts to smoke
trace the IGN wiring, you have a short to power that is popping the fuse. if you wait till something starts to smoke you have waited to long and possibly damaged something else. ill try to find the diagram and help you through it. do you have access to a FLUKE meter or some other sort of digital multi meter?
I'm a mechanic at pepboys, I have every tool needed to take apart the car and out it back together, its just my electrical skills in reading wire diagrams and schematics suck *****. Also yes I do own a fluke
So far I narrowed down that its not the switch its self, the harness under the dash, the actual ignition wire has continuity from the prong where the fuse goes, and all the way to the harness plug, also figured out that the other prong has 12v
So if I put a jumper with a fuse and send the 12 signal straight to the harness it should be all good? Or does that branch off to other wires down by the fuse box
