Sorry to bump a few months old thread, I'm just trying to confirm how do you tell if it's a single stage airbag just by looking at it? My guess was if there's the wire connector coming out the back of the airbag it's single stage, and if there's like a black and red looking plug it's a dual? Is that right?

Looks great, I have a single stage bag on my RX wheel but the bag did not come with a wire on the back of it. I'm not talking about the wire that you buy separately from carson either...I"m talking about the wire that usually comes with airbags. It DOES NOT have a part number and no one has an extra one. I've been driving around with a non-functional bag for 6+ months. I need to get mine fixed before inspection time in March 2012. I guess I could buy a cheap corolla bag and jack the wire from the back, but that's such a waste of money. Anyways, if anyone has an extra wire that comes direction from the bag that attaches to the toyota single stage connector that you buy from carson, let me know. I'll pay big $$$.
Basically I need the wire highlighted in red. This is what typically people have to splice...
Why not just swap your original inflation module? The 4 bolts should line-up, just swap the units and use your original wiring...

yep that's what i did Tabaka i swapped the dual stage bomb with a 98 corolla one. i also still have that dual stage inflation module if someone needs one.
also... from what i hear there may be a couple of different sizes thou. so measure the screw holes beforehand i have the same type of wheel as the one that starts this thread. no problem.
Thank you so much. That kind of woodgrain you were able to get is so hard to find. There are airbags like that everywhere but tan on maple(?) is very rare. It's usually tan on cherry red. Black on any color is also very easy to find. I hope I can get this done by January. I hate my peeling 4 spoke leather steering wheel. What's the part number of the connector btw? That's available brand new right?

Yea that cherry red I believe is from the ES. I swapped this steering wheel in the original post into my black/black SC400 and sprayed it with Landau Black SEM. Came out really nice.
