I was thought that you guys were going to find black panels and such from a black interior SC, guess that would be expensive unless you can find a cheap donar.

Phoenix, that's what salvage/junk cars are for: spare parts You can usually buy a whole car for $1500, strip it down, and hopefully sell it back to a yard so you don't have a twisted frame chillin' in your driveway.

man thats what i want to do. I was considering a full black interior but that black/tan is pretty sweet. Its something you definately don't see everyday. With this setup you get the wild looking flare without the big bowl of rice. Very classy

so then is there any way to dye/color the dashboard/window panels or do I have to replace those entirely?

I know that you can stain/dye leather, so I'm pretty sure there's a way to do it to the interior without having to hunt for spare parts. Unless Lexus applied some sort of protective clearcoat???

Good luck finding black interior pieces! I've been looking for a while now and so far no luck. Those pieces are going to be hard to come by... black was introduced in '95 and I think the SC started losing lots of sales after '98. So about 4 model years that could be in junkyards... '95-'98, i've seen a few '95 and '96, not many '97 and '98. Hehe, if I find one, you can be sure i'm keeping it quiet until i can strip the interior

There was a picture on the boards of a tan interior with all the Brown parts turned black. It looked much better than the regular brown interior.

If I don't find black interior pieces by next summer then i'm going to have all the brown parts and doors (door handles need some work anyways) professionaly redone and converted to black.

For the hassle I don't see how it would be worth it. You would probably be better off buying a new car. Unless of course that is what you really want to do; then go for it!

Yeah, I'm with 4Hun on this one...is it really worth the hassle? I'm not a tan interior fan either but my SC400 has a tan interior and considering doing the full black interior (the correct way, by swapping it all out) but then I thougth about it...I would better off doing something else with the time and money. Hell, at night downa dark alley, it looks black anyways!

Sorry to resurrrect this old thread I came across, but dyeing leather is really no problem at all.

I wouldn't do it on the seats...as far as changing the color because they get a lot of wear. However, I wouldn't hesitate to have the other parts done.

I used to do a lot of leather/vinyl repair on almost new Cadillacs and Acuras. We used a water based dye that you spray on with a paint gun....like exterior paint. I hear the oil base stuff sticks even better, but I never used it.

I would remove the pieces if you are serious about it and take them to a reputable dye house. They will spray everything, then you reinstall.

This is NOT paint....the stuff that chips off. That is the cheap rattle-can way of doing it.

Here is the answer to all your prayers guys.. I found this at the Sema show in Las Vegas last year, and was very close to doing a black interior on my 95 SC300, but then I found a Silver 95 SC300 with black interior just a few weeks ago, and pounced on it, so now don't need to.. But, a buddy of mine changed his entire interior to black with like $75.00 or $100 bux worth of their molecubond, and it came out sweet.. Read the reviews.. apparently after applying to a motorcycle seat, they didn't have anything rub off on their pants....

www.bryndana.com

If anyone tries this, lets get some reviews.

(I will have to post some pictures of my 95 silver SC300.. Its AWSOME!.. I just had a paging alarm/auto-start system installed, and a turbo goes on within two months.. I can't wait to suprise the hell out of the local bmw spankies)
