Default Crank bolt removal help

Trying to get this damn thing off and have no access to any air tools or the toyota crank tool. I've searched and seen people recommend the starter method. I just want to know what side to put the breaker bar? Do I put it under the battery side or towards the passenger side and bump the starter? Also how quick of a crank does it need? Any help is greatly needed as I need to change this water pump b4 sunday! Any other methods are welcomed also.

I'm confident it's the battery side.
as to how much to crank, until it turns over, I would guess. as soon as you turn the key, the slack will be taken out of the breaker bar (that little bit of give will be gone). after that, the starter will try to actually kick the motor over. IF the motor spins, and the breaker bar doesn't go flying, you've broken it lose. if not, give it a few seconds, and try again. sometimes you can get lucky by popping the starter rapidly (by turning the key, not with a hammer ), causing it to act as a sort of impact.
be forewarned, the starter method doesn't always work, and can damage more than just your ego.

edit: I think autozone will loan that toyota tool out, if they have one.

I just had to take this off literally on Tuesday.. DO NOT BUMP THE STARTER.... Best thing to do, is, put your 22mm socket on there, make sure your fan is off so you have plenty of room.. Grab a hammer and give the ratchet/breaker bar a quick smack.. Mine broke loose on the second hit.. The jarring action was enough to break the bolt loose without having to access the flywheel underneath by the bellhousing and hold it with a pry bar of some sort.. Good luck.. Quick question tho.. Why are you removing the crank pulley/harmonic balancer just to change the waterpump?

EDIT: Make sure the engine is under compression so it has a bit of tension to it..

The breaker bar goes on the passenger side under the frame rail and tie it to the sway bar and bump it 2 twice make sure your battery is fully charge i did this last weekend worked great only took me 45min to remove swap the crank pulley. remove the fan, shroud, and radiator the battery need to come off first before the fan shroud.
But you will still need a puller to pull the pulley off because it will not come off.

Thanks for the responses I'll try these. Also the water pump is behind the timing belt so it has to come off.
