Two bushings need replacement:
1) lower pivot bushing
2) shifter seat (below ball)

33548-31010 this is the shifter lever bushing ~ this is from a 89 supra
33505-35020 this is the shifter seat bushing ~ this is from a 93 tacoma its green.
these are the ones i bought the tacoma one is a tad thicker but the shifter will feel amazing after! i love it it feels rock solid!

Definitely do these bushings... I remember before I bought my SC, I test drove a 96 5spd... wow that transmission felt loose, wobbly, not tight. I hope this fixes your issue. If this really was the problem, than the difference will be night and day.

dont get oem crap.

get the marlin crawler kit. call them and ask for the shifter seat and shifter tip bushing for an r154 transmission. its a direct install in a w58.

makes a night and day difference in shifter feel.

It won't be back to factory tightness with just the Marlin Crawler pieces though. Check out this set that comes with both of the Marlin Crawler pieces with the addition of an insert the fits into the shift lever inside the transmission. That piece makes all of the difference. I had just the Marlin Crawler bushings for a while and I wasn't satisfied until I got that insert from BillyM. Honestly it seems pretty crude and I could make it myself but for the low cost I didn't mind and my shifter is as tight as a...

EDIT: Forgot to post the link http://www.supramania.com/forums/sho...ghlight=billym

There's something more to this solution from what I remember. Like 1992-1994 had a different bushing than like 1997 for example. I wouldn't know where to start for searching but you could probably find out where someone tried to do this on a different year and the part wasn't even there or something...like it was when the shifter moved forward in 1995 ..sorry so vague..I know it's different.
