Any problems with the SC? There is a shorter one as well, but I'm not sure if this one has problems with the transponder being too far away.

doesnt work as far as i know. the transponder casing is too big

 

yes it can be done. Search the GS Second Generation forum and you will find a thread that talks all about it.

 

Would Lexus cut that though?

I tried ordering the same key for my 99 sc300 and they told me it wont work. This is what they told me
" Unfortunately, our listing as you probably know is new, and in attempting to process your order we discovered that our swithblade shell keys will not work on 1st generation Lexus vehicles which use what is called a "long or eight cut" blade. The shell/key needed for your vehicle only comes in the standard 3 button type. We will gladly refund your order if you like or you can converted it to a standard type and we will then refund you the difference."

I just bought the old style key and it works good. I sent them pictures of my key blade and they cut it for me
