This may be a dumb question but is this key compatible with all the new lexus vehicles?

no, I bought the key from lexuspartsnow and the shank from the dealer.

just an FYI though, make sure you do not open the package when you receive it, most dealers will not program internet bought fobs.
Having it in sealed Lexus packaging and they usually don't have an issue with it. Opened and they might turn you away.

A buddy of mine who works there ordered it for me
