So far, I've cleaned up the IACV, took the throttle body off and cleaned it up i case it was just sticking or something and nothing. I'm thinking that it is either the MAF or the EGR (noticed a crack in the EGR) and if not those two then probably the ECU. I'm going to work on determining whether it is one of those two before I spring for an ECU.
Any notes on getting an MAF? Did it change from year to year or engine to engine at all?

I believe it's the same through 95 (AFM), then it changed in 96+ to a true MAF.Originally Posted by canman44

Wait, what years are different? I bought an ECU from a 93 M/T vehicle to replace the one in my '95 and it works ok. Though I do have the idle issues as described from other people. I never had this issue before with my normal '95 ECU. I only changed because I had light white smoke at start up and almost everyone told me to change ECU's which I did. The funny thing is that I still have light white smoke at start up which goes away after the car warms up. I do not have a head gasket leak as I just had my car inspected with a leak down and compression test. I replaced my timing belt, water pump, every oil gasket, distributor, cap/rotor, plugs, etc and still have the same light smoke. The car runs fine for 15-20 minutes, then the RPM's drop rather low. I typically just restart the car at a stop light at idle and it runs normal for another 15-20 minutes. Sometimes I just turn on the A/C which makes the RPM's jump up 100-200 to keep things normal. I honestly don't care anymore as I just need this thing to be my daily for a little while until I can buy a new car. I've spent way too much on it already.Originally Posted by lexdud
ECUs = about $2,500 at the dealer but can be had for as little as $100 or so used on eBay. If you buy used make sure you get the exact same model number as they changed even within model year.
