A/C Quick question recharge fitting and location SC400 97
Sorry guys, sort of frustrated.
AC needs recharge, the only Low Pressure cap I can find is on the left engine bay firewall and the fitting to recharge it looks foreign . I looks like I need a "male" fitting to fit into the connection with Schrader valve.
Most common recharge hoses are female and connect to a male thread....
Is this the correct location, and
do I need to find a special connector to fit into that firewall LPressure fitting ?
Thanks

the fitting has a beige plastic cap with an "L" on it . the metal fitting has an interior thread. Not an exterior thread like most recharge hoses will fit........so is this the 1997 low pressure fitting?
is this a sc300 or sc400 your working on? i just charged the AC in my 96 sc300, it is a r135a system.
if you have a sc300 the high side is right in front of the radiator toward the left side of the engine and the low side is under the air intake tube by the MAF sensor on the passenger side fender

as mentioned previously... typical lo pressure fittings have threads on the outside, not inside of the fitting.....
So, do I need to buy a special attachement to fill this ?

sorry i didnt see u had a 400, i have not seen the fittings on them but they should be the same as every car with a r134a system using a A/C machine to drain and fill your system is the only way i know to properly charge a system. those cans in the store dont do ***** and the gauges are inaccurate. do you have access to a shop with an a/c machine?
Chances are you have the wrong gauge/fitting.
I have charged my 97 sc400 there in the past with no issues.
