I unplug my MAF sensor and that changes nothing at all in the performance of my car. as i'm idling it, i unplug it, and nothing changes, car doesn't even react. Does that mean it's bad? seems to be doing nothing at all?
Checked coils and have new plugs. car idles smooth, but as i gas it up, it just bogs down real bad. in park or drive, it takes forever to rev up.
I have just enough power to get the car moving, and its running rich.
also checked the cold start switch and fell within specs. Temp sensor and thermostat replaced. Gonna check the Cam sensors after this MAF is figured out.
and isn't there a way to check the ECM, ref voltage.. to tell if its bad.
I really don't have anyone here in MI as there are so few sc400s up here, to switch the ecu with. That can't be the only way to find out if it's the ecu.
Yeah that's an indication that your AFM is no good, when I unplugged mine, the car barely ran. (Un)fortunately these cars barely take any input for the car to run (just as most pre-OBDII cars).
So I would suggest you to get a new AFM.
Also, the only way of testing if you ECU is good or not, is to see if you can pull any trouble codes/DTC/CEL. If it doesn't pull any, there's a chance the ECU is no good. If there are no codes, the CEL should just blink constantly.
I tried to pull the codes and it just blinked constantly. I've disconnected the battery so many times as i've been working on it i'm sure i cleared them. I'm hoping i don't need both a MAF and ECU. would a bad ecu not react to a Maf being unplugged? Theres gotta be a resistance test or voltage check to make sure the MAF is not working properly.
when my karmen vortex maf went bad in my 93 sc3 it would first hesitate and sputter back and foward at low speeds like someone that cant drive stick, and then it would stall at idle if i didnt give it any gas
my maf was bad when i thought it was my iacv.. basically my car would be drivable but sometimes when i came to an idle at a light or so. it would die.. there was a time where i was driving it and keeping the revs up at a stop
