Default LS400 Calipers

I found a 1990 LS400 at a junk yard in Palm Beach, all claipers were in tact, will the rear fit my 99 SC400? I have seen people on here mention the brake upgrade, would those be the calipers I need

I'm not 100% sure but I think its the 1995+ LS400 thats an upgrade. I might be wrong though. I know for the fronts you would need the shorter LS400 17mm caliper bolts for them to bolt onto your SC400 properly or you can use some washers to space out the stock sc400 caliper bolt. For the rears though I'm not sure.

95+ but only the fronts. The rear calipers are the same as the single piston calipers on the SC. If you are looking to upgrade your rears, the supra tt rears are dual piston and will work on the SC.

It starts with 95 I have a set of 95's on my 95 SC not that my year has anything to do with it.

Front calipers (and rotors) from a 95-2000 LS400 (2nd Gen) are what you want to upgrade your SC front brake system.. You will want the LS400 caliper mounting bolts as well since they are the correct length. You can use your SC front caliper mounting bolts but you will need washers to "shorten" the bolts. I do not think LS400 (2nd Gen) REAR calipers work on a SC.

Thanks for the responses, 95+ for the front, do we also upgrade the rear, and can I take the calipers from the 95+ also?

" I do not think LS400 (2nd Gen) REAR calipers work on a SC.[/QUOTE]"

Which one will work for the rear, and what else needs to be done? I have to do a break job on my rear like yesterday, and I figured while you have everything apart, just go ahead a do the upgrade right there and then.

I now know the front needs the washers/spacers if I am reusing the SC bolts, none needed, If I get the bolts from the LS for the front. Now the back is not a straight bolt on, what is the catch with that one?

Thanks all.

I think I am addicted to this site, I might need to go to AA meeting, the site was down yesterday, atleast on my PC, and I think I checked every 5 mins for the longest, and soon after started having withdraw syndrome

That's not a 2nd Gen LS, it's a LS400 chuki. 2nd Gen LS' are the 430's.

Yes, Supra rears bolt up as well as their front.

Use the proper rotors for the calipers that you have on your car.

For Example:

LS Calipers = LS Rotors
SC Calipers = SC Rotors
MKIV Calipers = MKIV Rotors

Supra Turbo rotors are slightly larger than LS400 rotors. You can't mix and match the two.

Correct with one exception. 1992-1997 SC300 use smaller rotors. If you have a 1992-1997 SC300 you can upgrade to SC400 rear calipers and rotors. I've seen both side-by-side and while the rotors are only slightly larger they net around a 20% increase in pad surface area.
