Default Code 13

I was getting 4 codes and I replaced the capacitors on my ecu but I am unable to get rid of code 13 at this time. My car now will start but I still have that code and my engine light on. What is the first part you would replace for a code 13? I do not like my engine light on.

Code 13 RPM Signal

Im assuming you have a sc400? If so then its either your cam position sensor is bad/not sending signal or your timing is off. Most likely is that your belt chewed up your cam position sensor's wiring and you just need to fix the broken wire. Engine will most likely misfire on take offs but not every time.

Same issue here. Mitchell Manual says it is either a speed sensor (crank), timing belt slipped or an open connection......connections checked and stripped wires re-coated, crank sensor replaced......going for the timing belt next. I am having a heck of a hard time getting mine started (takes 10 tries for it to idle) and the engine does not seem to have the power and it shakes a bit during acceleration.
Let's see if we get to the bottom of it. Yes it is a '92 SC400

jomidan,
If your crank position sensor was bad or not sending signal your car would not start at all. But if you have a loose connection then this could be your issue by allowing the car to start but run poorly as soon as it looses signal.

Cam position sensor is different there are two, each behind the cam gear. First check that they are good by measuring the resistance. Plug them back in if you still get the CEL then check that your timing is set up right.

To check timing is easy just line up the mark on the crank pulley to 0 and make sure the cam gear markings line up. You need to remove the upper timing belt plastic covers to see these markings. Sounds like your belt has skipped a couple of teeth. Done it a couple of times and the belt can be easily adjusted without removing the whole belt.
