Car is running. But, When I turn off the car, the fuel pump continues to run. Does anyone know what would cause that?

The circled item is a hydraulic fan drive. Glad to hear its running. Are you pulling a fuse to stop the fuel pump? Have you done the 12v mod/fuel pump ecu bypass?

If you have done the 12v mod, it is normal for the fuel pump to run for about 3 seconds after the key is turned off.

Thanks for all of your help. I am not pulling the fuse. I have to take the neg, battery treminal off. When I put it back on, The fuel pump isn't running. I start the car again, turn it off, fuel pump will continue to run.

I will have to check and see if the 12v mod has been done. I didnt do it.

Any other ideas

Next time you run it and shut it down, pull the main efi relay out and see if the pump goes off.

alright hatch. The 12v mod has not been done on my car. So where does that leave us. I have not started the car anymore. So I Have not been able to pull the efi relay. I will try it today.

Any other ideas on what could be causing this problem?

First, I just want to be sure pulling the efi relay kills it. Then we can start moving down the line.

Okay, I went out and started the car. I turned the car off, and it continued to run. So, both the fuel pump and the car continued to run. I turned the key on and off a few times. The car, once completely shut off (both fuel pump and car turned off) Every other time the car continued to run.

I pulled the efi fuse, and the car and the pump turned off..

So what is next?

Use the diagrams I sent you and verify the wiring from the ignition switch. I will check back later when I have more time.

Hatch, I just realize that I read your post wrong. I pulled the fuse, and not the relay. I will be checking on that today.

I checked the the car by pull the relay, and the pump did turn off.

It sounds like there is some kind of feedback loop on your relay wiring. You need to trace out all the wires for the main relay and EFI fuse to verify nothing is being fed that shouldn't be.

Before you turn the key on, I assume the pump is off? Or is it always running? Check pin 1 on the smaller ecu connector with the ignition switch OFF and see if it has 12v or not.

The pump is off before I turn the key on. Once I turn the key on, the pump automatically turns on. Once I turn the car off the car, the pump continues to run. I can even take the key out of the ignition, and the pump still continues to run.

Before I took the harness out of the car, the car was wired to have the pump turn on when the car was placed in the on position. How would someone wire the pump to turn on when the car is in the on position. Maybe if I reverse that, it will resolve this problem.

The fuel ecu bypass does that, but if you checked and yours is not bypassed, then you will have to keep looking. Trace the wires all the way from the pump to the power source if necessary.

Is there another place that the fuel pump bypass can be done? It had to be done somewhere other than at the fuel pump ecu.
