Default Problem with AC PSI Reading LP Port

Tonight i connected a gauge to the low pressure line and it was at 10 psi with the ac running. So I added about 18oz of 134a and the psi reading never changed. Could it be just that low and I need to add more to build up more pressure? Its been probably close to 5 years since I added any refrigerant. On a 70 degree day the the vent temp with the ac on is 42. My friends 98 acura the vent temp was 36 degrees. I was trying to get mine up to atleast 35 psi @ 80 ambient temp. But it remained right on 10 psi...

Might be the gauge. What do the high and low side read at 2500 RPM?

Yeah I was afraid it may be a leak. I know the gauge is accurate. I'm not sure what the reading is at 2500 rpm. Currently I don't have the right connector to connect it to the high side. Would the refrigerant really leak out as fast as I added it to the system could I possibly try to add more freon and if the psi pressure increases. I just can't imagine that it would leak out just as fast as I added it. I was thinking maybe it was just extremely low on freon.

have you checked the sight glass on the accumulator? any signs of liquid/bubbles? If it was leaking that fast I don't know if it would even show 10PSI. Are you Sure the gauges are OK? Try on a different vehicle?

What is in the system, r12 or r134?
