R154 leaking.......again! Need advice please
Had a bit of the same issue. Each of 6 bolt each carry a special shaped washer that sits under/on top the rubber gasket, ensure you they are all installed, if just one is missing it causes a terrible leak from the rear of the gaskets around the bolt. I have removed all of mine and tried resealing with silicone, still a bit of a leak.
well Loctite is the right brand, they make both a thread locker and a thread sealer. You want the thread Sealer when the bolts themselves are seeping oil, the locker does not substitute as a sealer!!
Before I used just the gaskets on the turbo feed/drain flanges and secured with the bolts, they would start leaking from the bolts soon after and ruin the gasket, i went through this several times. The last time I did it I replaced the gaskets and also used thread sealer on the bolts, hasn't leaked a drop from anywhere, that was over 10k ago. Once it dries it hardens and fills in the threads completely, seals better and is more convenient than Teflon. All fittings/bolts I install now that see oil get thread sealer.
OR just remove the rubber piece and get it welded to the trans...
