Default sc worth buying?

whats up CL. new user here and i been looking around for an sc for awhile now. well i saw this sc on craigslist, but i was wondering what you guys think of it and is it worth getting? here's the link so you can see and and the details. so if you can let me know on your thoughts on the car it would be great. thanks

Lexus SC 400 automatic V8 4.0 liter engine runs great with 182,000 miles.Needs transmission work willl not go in any gears, no accidents, recently tuned up,oil change and smogged Nice black exterior/grey interior with slight rip to passenger seat.good tires, cold a/c,pw,ps,sunroof,chrome original Lexus rims. Must sell 1,600

i texted the person yesterday and he told me that he's not really sure exactly what the problem is. he was told it can be the torque converter or transmission pump, will go in drive and reverse but not everytime. and thats all i know so far.

IMHO any car that mentioned transmission trouble is a no buy. Transmission work is hit or miss & only sometimes only temporary at best.

How can he list that it runs great but the transmission will not go in any gears?

Stay away.

Unless you are ready for swap don't do it. But it looks like a nice one.

You can purchase a transmission and replace it with the damage one... Your call... At $1600 its a steal... You can strip the car and recover more than that... Also the car looks like it got a 97 body year treatment... Front bumper and side skirts look like..

Offer him $1200, pick up a tranny for $250 and slap it in. Easy.

92 will have maintenance to be done. Especially with 180k. Then the obvious the trans. Stay away buddy. It'll add up, you find decent ones around for 2-4k
