Check and see when the timing belt service was done. If it hasn't been done yet, that's a $800+ day right there. Keep in mind that it's getting close to 150k, things will start breaking soon ...alternator, power steering, every bushing, control arms/many of the suspension components, rack and pinion, etc. Since your "Dad" is influencing you on this decision, I take it your young and possibly a student? Though it's a very reliable car, it's still a vehicle and needs updated maintenance. Do you have any mechanical skills?
