Default How much would you pay for this SC3

I'm still in the search for a SC300/400, came across this one from a dealer:

1998, 126k miles, silver/black.

http://sfbay.craigslist.org/sby/ctd/2361235333.html

Dealer retail is obviously high.. but

1. how much is it realistically worth?
2. does it seem like a good buy?

Thanks!

dealer is high/literally.

$7,000 tops since it's a 97+ with black interior.

thanks, I told them $6500 max, they said no way. I'll let it sit for a while and try again.

If only I could find one in black!

That price is almost a grand over NADA clean retail. If you could get them down to about 7 max then you would be doing good. The car does have some nice features, black interior being the big one. If you're planning on customizing the car anyway and would definitely switch any car you get to a black interior spending some extra now to not deal with the headache later may be worth it to you. Are you wanting a later model car specifically or are you just wanting any sc, that does play into whether this is a good deal for you or not.

Black is hard to find I'm telling you. I just bought mine about a month ago, I was looking for a black one but couldn't find any, when I saw mine posted on craigslist, initially I thought it was black, but when I looked at it I realized its blue. But it was in such good condition, already slammed and on rims I couldn't miss on it.

I'd pay about $7,000 for it. That's one of my favorite color combinations on an SC.

you hit the mark on your first offer. Dont go much higher than that.

Give it some time as im sure this car isnt flying off the lot in a hurry.

I wish the mileage was lower but aside from that is looks good

Brian does makes a valid point...what are your goals for your SC? Something you can work on/build or just drive with no worries. If you're going to do the first of the two options I would look for something else a little cheaper-factor in the money you're going to have to play with for a potential build. If you're just looking at something for a drive/cruise with no mods...go for the one listed in the add. I would also wait on it and see if they'll drop the price. Me personally, I would give 7k for it...not more then that. Either way, GL!

I think about it like this, if you want a smooth clean daily driver the 98+ cars are great but they still command a higher price so you have to be willing to pay a little more. But also, if you are going to buy say a 95 model for $4000 then put a 97+ body on it then you'll need to paint it then you want a black interior so you'll either have to dye what you've got or switch the whole thing, why not just pony up for a newer one ? In the end you'll spend about the same and with the newer car you don't have to do any of those things if you find the interior color you want. Just something to think about.

how are the 97+ different from the older ones? I don't seem to be seeing it yet.
