Yeah, I've had it for years, it was a gift.... I plan on a V1....just after I do all of the maintenance first... It actually works decently, it isn't the cheap cobra model, it was pretty close to $300 new, but it definitely isn't a V1. For now it's better than nada...lol

Nice wiring. I need to wire up a new radar detector soon.

That Cobra looks a lot nicer than the one I had.

Thanks for the wiring compliments! Part of my job is actually cable / wiring management for networks, so that's actually just temporary, I'll probably run both in one loom then split it off, should look even better once I'm done. I'm always available for tips on how to run wiring, I'll post pics of my buddy's 66 impala that I completely re-wired (No Painless Harness) and added lots of extra's too (electric fans, power locks, msd, wideband o2, alarm, headlamp relays, etc) it looks factory, that's how he wanted it. Anyhow, if anyone ever needs help, and is local, I'm down to help!

No they are legal...I do think a few liberal states have them outlawed...but w.e A speed trap is entrapment anyways but that doesnt matter anymore. F the 5.0

I've got a Passport 8500 X50 - and yes, they work. The only bummer is that many states (like mine, Illinois) use strictly laser on the interstate. The detector will go ape **** when you get hit with laser, but it will already be too late. Laser is instantaneous. That's why I'm getting this for a college graduation present:

Oh, and nice wiring, by the way. I need to do this with mine. Did you tap into the hot wires on the moon roof?

I actually tapped the constant + for the dome light, because that unit has "smartpower" that will go into sleep mode when the car is of and draws almost no power, then wakes up when you start the car. I went that route because if I tapped the switched + wires I would get a "beep beep beep....System Ready" noise everytime I start, and I get sick of that. The only noise I would want to hear at every startup is the V1 sound, love it. Nice passport, I'm jealous

I would LOVE one but they're absolutely illegal in VA. The other downside is we have the worst traffic violation laws in the country.

Is there any way to mount a detector in the front of the car or someplace inconspicuous so that should I get pulled, a cop wouldn't see it?

Also, what's the word on radar detector detectors? I've heard they're a myth, but have no clue if that's true.
