i am going to run the aem standalone v1 ecu, i understand that the oem ecu will need injectors but what about standalone? i also know that the aem v2 has built in resistors
planning to to make somewhere around 600hp.

Yes you need a resistor box with AEM V1, It's all what kind of injectors you are running ..so if you have low impedance injectors then you will need a resistor box.
The ECU needs to see 12ohm, but your injectors are 3ohm so the resistor box add 9ohm that will make both you and the ECU happy lol.
I really depend on what kind of power you are ttrying to make, and what fuel are you running?
You can get some high impedance 750cc and make 600rwhp on pump gas and you are set.
You can also get some 1000cc low impedance and just get a resistor box from an Acura Legend and wire it in and you are done.
