Talking 2jzgte single turbo conversion choice help :)

Ok guys so I'm gonna do thing single turbo swap and right now I'm looking at what turbo I wanna buy b4 the end of the week. I'm going to be looking for around 450 low boost and about 650 high boost. I know there is no such thing as a free lunch but, I want something with not a shat ton of lag. I will being doing 1/4 mile drag with this car and it can get tempting to get more power so a little bit higher power may be needed from the turbo later on.

Also its a bit off subject but what horsepower is the r154 good for normally.

Thanks everybody for ur responses. I looked for a thread like this but couldn't find one. So I did use the search button lol

Just go with a T-88 now and a 200 shot. Youll be fine for later.

TO me the only choices are the PTE 62 series, Borg Warner S200 and S300 extended tip series as well as Holsets : HX35 / 40 .

Everything else is old technology or way overpriced.

but what are the pros and cons of either one... i mean i can get a hx35w for 250 bucks but it won't take me to the power i want.

be very careful with the r154 .. at 600 rwhp im on my 2nd one already and i dont drag car at all...

pte 6265 dbb with a .81 hotside will reach those goals easily with headroom to 700 rwhp.. ex manny design and if you are cammed or not will also contribute to the equation

Id go for ~67mm turbo, had a PTE 67 on my car for a few years and loved it. For along time it was considered the Goldie-lox turbo size on SF.

Default Japanese Tuning in Plain English

The HKS T04R/T04RZ is THE best single turbo for the 2JZ-GTE. Compare this graph to others and you won't find a single turbo that produces this much torque so early and as linear... notice the torque doesn't drop off so quickly like other turbos do.

The T-78 is an old design but it's inexpensive and comparably sized to the T04R. It would be a good option for cost reasons.

Sorry got you beat I have a customer with a setup making 600 whp at 3000 rpm... though in a way we cheated to get this kind of performance out of a single turbo.... if you consider cheating having the hks 3.4 stroker kit on a smaller single turbo.
My recommendation for the op would be a 67mm with a .68 ar housing and a aem ems with upgraded fuel system
