Default About to buy another SC

So on my way to drop off lunch for my GF i made a wrong turn and as i was driving i saw this sad looking SC sitting in a driveway looking really sad i pulled over and knocked on the door ,long story short he told me $1800 and its yours its a 92 SC400 with 170k on the clock clean interior (awesome) ,Nakamichi stereo, and no accidents ,Originaly from Florida (older lady serviced at the dealer) his boss bought it from her and kept it for 5 months, and sold it to him.

The bad car wont start it turns over but no fire ,he told me it needs a fuel pump. tell me what you guys think.

I wouldnt pay that much for a non running 92' SC400. I'd expect to pay about that in running condition.

Non-running condition, $1000 at the VERY max.

It may be nice, but I always look at cars for ROI (return on investment)

Its a clean body, but the 92 body isn't worth much after all.
Motor probably does run, but I have litterally seen these motors go for free, no body wants them.
The interior is Tan, it may be nice, but not worth what black interior would be worth.

I have parted out 2 SC's, and have had my fair share. I see what the market is like, and I would go there with $1000 cash and say take it or leave it, and explain it to him just like I did to you.

Yeah that seems fair you can probably flip for a profit if you decide to sell after you fix her and get her running. Or keep her for many years or forever

Hmmm not a bad idea ,the interior on this one is gray my current SC has the black seats .i could def see myself throwing a 1jz in it in the near future tho.

yes $1800 is way too much for a car that doesnt run.

I wouldnt even offer a thousand to be honest.

If it just needed a fuel pump why wouldnt he of got one installed?

the sellers ALWAYS minimize the issues.

beware

I wouldn't offer more than $1,000 for it.

I would never buy a non running car for over 1k...Have him fix it and then sell it to you for 1500..Who knows you could get it running and its knocking then ur screwed.

Unfortunately, the OP approached the "seller" out of the blue; he wasn't even trying to sell the car. Think about it, if someone knocked on your door and asked about buying your car right now, would you be inclined to sell if for an absolute bottom dollar, bargain price?

yes at this point you have no choice but to assume the car is aparts car only--if you can get it running thats a bonus.

Please dont take the sellers word for it.

I have to disagree.. I would give that for it if you are willing to put the effort in getting it running again. It looks well kept from the pictures and from the outside shots. JMO.

Well just think, do you have enough money to spare to buy it? And do you have a place to store it.
