Default Battery Issue

Ok today i was driving on post and when i gunned it to jump out into traffic my battery light came on. I noticed that the ABS light also kicked on then off after about 2 min. If i dont hit the gas pedal the battery light stays off but once i do depending on how much throttle i give it it stays on or flashes.. Also when i do give it a lil more gas, i can see the instrument panel brighten up as well as the vents blow harder and it will kick off my amp running my mids and highs so all you hear is bass then kick back on after about 2 sec. has anyone encoutered this issue and if so what did you do? I just replaced my alternator a little over a year ago and my capacitor is steady around 12.35-12.70 like always. Thanks guys

sounds like the alternator not charging the battery. when you get high rpms your battery is holding up.

Alternator. Got pulled off to the side for a random search at the gate at Fort Riley, like 2am, and my car wouldn't start after Do it before that happens.

AS others have said, it definitely sounds like your alternator can't keep up with a full load. If that's the case, and you've been running that way for a while, then you may have damaged your battery as well. SInce you said you changed your alternator within a year or so, you might want to verify that you don't have oil leaking onto/into it and causing it to fail prematurely.

wow really weird. same exact thing happened to me today. tried to beat traffic on the freeway and my battery light popped up and stayed on for a few second.
if the light goes away does it make it okay to drive? or shall I not drive my car anytime soon? i drive a 95 sc300. keep me posted about this problem because im sure we have the same problem. btw im running on 180xxx miles.

Take the car to Advance Auto or Auto Zone and tell them to test the battery and alternator - they'll do it for free.

I had the same issue in my Thunderbird SC and it ended up being a diode effectively killing any battery I put in there.

ok guys tighten up two grounds. (above oil filter,an side of airbox). Put an extra ground from battery terminal to chassie. grounded amplifier to trunk wall an grounded capacitor under cd changer. it worked. i used 8 gauge wires i can turn bass an vol up with no problem. no more lag when i cut the radio pass 1/2 mark. lights shine brighter
