Default The 2.5 Twin Turbo?

I've only been on CL for a short time and I've only seen some JDM stuff.

I'm thinking there was a Soarer with a 2.5 Twin Turbo set up as in the Toyota Supra. Is this the Supra from back in the day? Just saw this ole gal at the AUDI dealership here in Dallas, Tx.

How did the Soarer perform with this OEM engine in it?

I'm a noob so be gentle....no smart asses please. Thanks!!

looks like a supra to me

im not sure what your concern is about the engine----the 2.5 litre is the 1jz gte i 'think'.

I hear good things about it but dont have much more to offer you aside from that.

I believe it comes with 280 hp if im not mistaken.

I'm just interested in the performance that that old engine offered. I know that car is a SUPRA. When the body style changed in the Supra's last year did they change the engine too? I know that I have a 2JZ-GE in my 98 SC3. Just interested in what the Jap. were doing at that time with the engines.

in that respect i have no info to offer you sorry.

the reason that i do not know much about supras (old or new)--is because i despise them lol

hopefully some other people will chime in with some better info than I had.

Correct the MKIV Supra was a complete revamp in design from chassis to drivetrain. Originally the 2J powered the Aristo then eventually worked it's way over to the Supra.

I've always heard horror stories of the Legendary 7M motor. The 1JZ-GTE was an excellent motor. It can be found in the MKIII Supra, Soarer, and Chaser. I think the came in the Toyota Mark II and Cresta, but I'm not too sure on that.

im not very well knowledgable in supras as i said earlier but there is another thread that is going on right now --i forget which one---but there are alot of complaints about that 7m motor----

the complaints were that it can be problematic and alot of these older model supras had to have engine rebuilds and swaps due to the 7m.

as i said i have no experiance with it but thats what some people have been posting.

But im sure it has its positives as well if you ask around.

Did I just take a photo of a JAP toyota then? I've never seen one with that badge on the grill. Must have been fun to have a stock TT in a Jap soarer with a 6 speed manual in Japan.
