Ok guys I need some insight here, I got a friend with a light blue & black interior 95 300, and I keep bugging him to sell me it, so Saturday i test drove it and it has a slew of problems.1. The steering is leaning well, thing is if you drive in a straight line the wheel is turned at least 10-15 degree angle,2. When I mash the gas the car doesn't go and it feels dead,3. The interior is cracked beyond belief and dried up,4. I think the trans is bad due to the fact we were trying to do burnouts and he did a neutral drop and the tire did not spin on the left but on the right it spun a bit and produced no smoke what so ever. I've been telling him I'll give him 3 for it but after thinking about those issues I want to know if you guys can give me a ballpark figure of how all this stuff might cost me to repair, unfortunately no pics now but I'll get some this weekend to show you guys. I'm a sucker for a 95 but I just hope this doesn't cost me :/

1) Either alignment is off, or steering rack bushings.
2) Engine needs a compression check and to be looked over by a mechanic befor ebuying it.
3) I'm dealing with this, it's not cheap to replace.
4) Your friend is an IDIOT for Neutral dropping any automatic...it's an OPEN DIFF, so it's not going to leave a two wheel peel...besides that, your friend is still an idiot.
I bought a 92 a few months ago, the steering was shot, oil leak (valve cover gaskets), but the transmission, interior, etc were great, and it only had 85K miles.
Anyways, it is a project car, but I picked it up for $1500. I've replaced the rack and pinion, gaskets, and replaced the tires. Next up is to replace the control arm bushings and get an alignment.
Having said that, it still needs some work, but it is a fun car to drive around town. I've put about $1500 on top of the $1500 I got it for.
I'm not sure how many miles it has, but that might give you an idea...
spent over 2,000$ on whole power steering assembly it was shot. we had delt with it before but obviously it wasnt a perm. fix... also put a dump valve on it. hoping to put some motegi rims on her.... but thats another 1,700$ http://www.youtube.com/user/MANinOVE.../1/ZNnig6Lembk
the car has around 162k miles, its just a teenage boy who drives the car. i have asked him since day one to sell me it, he doesn't take care of it at all, he even changed the needle lights to blue along with the speedo -_-, heres a semi body shot i pulled from fb, i m going to talk him down to 2000 or maybe 1500, he wants to get a mustang or something so, thats why im throwing him prices, also crazy question, can i swap a 1UZ-FE into SC300 engine Bay, i love the 400 sound and power, would love to be able to make a quick swap.
SO how much you think an engine/tranny is going to cost, fabrication, labor, time etc. I'm sure you would have to get the full harness blah, blah, blah. Ehhhhh, do what you must.
