Also, on a road where people all travel at 10-15 over the limit, it's the person who's actually going the speed limit that's more of a safety hazard.

Honestly, it might be that I'm only 21, but when I make decisions, very rarely does the thought "wait, is this legal?" cross my mind. I take speed limits more as suggestions and really only tolerate them when I know police are around. If radar detectors weren't so hard to come by in VA (illegal), I'd already have one hard-wired in my car.

fair enough, i do agree that any speed is dangerous, highway speeds are just as dangerous. what can ya do? I just prefer to not do 90 on the highway. I make it a point to obey the posted limits because if i dont, then i am a hypocrite for ticketing those that dont.

Me, personally, I don't really put blame or resent on the individuals that write tickets. Sure, some are dicks and deserve to be disliked, but generally each time I've been pulled over, the cops have been polite. Coming home from ATL after Christmas, I got pulled for like 15 over. After he gave the ticket, we talked for about 5 minutes about my car, the vinyl wrap, exhaust, etc...

It's more of the system that I don't care for. The hypocrisy already exists and is built in. Example: why are many highways posted at 70 MPH and some are 55? Same number of lanes, and hell, same traffic patterns. But why should I get a ticket for moving at 70 MPH in a 55 when it's still considered safe to drive 70 in a 70?

City revenue.

Seems like this thread's gone off topic a bit. Maybe we need SupraDr to make a new thread just for this new debate.

I take back what I said Evo...Its just that, like mongoose said, I've ran into nothing but cops that abuse their authority. You seem more laid back and plus we have the love for SC's in common so thanks for doin your job n be safe out there
