It's seems that the 2nd gear upshift is changed via line pressure through the cable that runs into the oil pan.

Shift into 3 and 4 are solenoid changed, as well as the lockup converter.

So if your engine is missing the trans cable like I am, you won't shift into 2nd, let alone 3 and 4.

I actually Found out some real good info.

The Sensor you are missing, is missing!

See that hole up near the bellhousing with a threaded hole next to it?

That is SP1.

From what I understand the Three wire SP2 is a hall-effect sensor, and the Two wire SP2 is a magnetic pickup sensor.

You are missing yours, and I need to find out how to wire mine. This is the sensor that tells the ECU the speed.

On my JZX90 A341LE (That's what it actually is) I have a Blue wire and a Yellow wire coming out of SP1, but I can't find blue in the harness anywhere.

So, yeah.

Bumpin' from way back...

I am installing the SC300 2JZ-GE with the 1jZ-GTE (30-41LE), using 2JZ-GE auto ECU... into a '91 Supra.

For OP or someone familiar: Did the 2JZ-GE harness "plug-n-play" to the 1JZ-TT tranny, other than the speedo signal connector?

I plan to use the existing Supra's mechanical speedo cable to get the signal from the tranny to the speedometer. Then, using the speedometer's speed signal to the ECU SP signals.

Worse-case scenario, I can add a Vehicle Speed Sender (Marlin Crawler VSS or one I have from a W58) and Pipe that signal to an aftermarket/electronic speedo gauge at the dash and send the signal to the ECU.

Thoughts anyone?
