Interior door panel redo/replacement
It appears that I will need to do some interior repair/replacement of door and window panels in the next year or so. I know that OEM is still available but the door panels are running about $1K each and the window trim piece is around $400 each making almost $3k to replace both doors completely. I'd like advice or experiences from anyone that has tried a different approach to repairing the panels-- especially the window surround piece which is a badly designed piece of plastic with the joint in the middle of the window sill.
I had a vinyl repair guy take my trim piece (it tore at the junction of the two pieces under the vinyl right where your arm rests on the sill) but the repair was not a clean one-- shows the patching, etc. My door panel flanges at the bottom are broken where they screw into the door and I've got small tear or two that were patched but still show.
Lastly, I will probably need to replace the leather seat covers in the next year or two as they have really dried out--- any experiences in pre-cut versus local shop fabrication as to best results or bang for the buck? I do not have access to doing the work myself so will probably need to outsource any installation work.

I agree. The window sill piece is very poorly designed. Mine cracked and I was forced to dremel the joint down. Then I took a piece of carbon fiber and resin to make it stronger than stock. Door panels are just way too expensive.

Door Panel fix
My door panels were badly broken from pulling the handle to close the door, replacing speakers, etc. I was able to get away with buying the map pocket part of the door panel from the factory which made the whole panel look brand new. I guess it depends where on the door panel is broken.
Here are my before and after pics.

Thanks for your ideas. I checked out the map pocket piece for replacement but figured with the small tear (badly patched) in the piece above I should probably do the whole panel. I'll check out the used part source-- thanks. BTW, I also pulled the window trim out and had the repair dude resin the backside before attempting the patch on the front-- definitely stronger but so-so patch job on the vinyl. I'll keep working on it....
