Short update: Other than the new exhaust, addition of a cage and a temporary passenger seat, only things that have been going on are to up the car's efficiency. Did some ducting behind the 97 bumper to seal air-flow to the radiator and under the drivers headlight to force air to the filter. Removed some additional weight from the car to help offset some of the weight of the cage.

Friday the 14th, we are planning a track day and hoping I can get a decent time down the 'ol 1320. Took a friend for a ride the other day, and this is the result. Excuse the out of focus video, I didnt give him a chance to focus before I hit the throttle:

I fabbed up a camera mount for my cage yesterday, so when I hit the track I will have more video inside the car, and sure someone will get some from the sidelines.

As for the progression of the build, a good sized cam (not street friendly), and much larger displacement are in the works. Although since getting my hands on a shop, my car is pushed to the bottom of the build list.

Well, finally got it out to the track and results were less than what I expected. With no traction coming off the line, my 60ft times suffered, thus keeping me just out of the 12sec barrier. But being a stock LS1 on street tires, I cant complain too much cause I know 12's are easily reached with a set of drag radials, not to mention a few more goodies that will be bolted on soon along with a tune.

Here are the results:

13.4@108.71mph, this was the second pass of the night. No video of the first pass.

Final run yielded a 13.3@107.11mph:

Burnouts could have been longer, and may have helped with traction, and reaction times could have also helped push a 12sec pass...but, oh well. Thanks to the other CL Houston members that went out and got video. We all had some good runs, looking forward to the next trip out.

Thank you for posting the videos. Do you have an LSD? I would say the numbers are quite respectable for an open diff. What is that dealy with the buttons in front of your AC controls?

No problem. And no, no LSD or welded diff, 100% stock auto SC300 diff. As for the switches, I didnt run everything through the factory wiring on the car, so the switch panel replaced the center console/ac control/etc..there are several kill switches on the car and one primary for security, but its just mainly cause I only kept the wiring that was needed behind the dash, so most of it is run through the switches.

Looking good sir.

hint: better reaction times would not help you get into the 12s

Well CL, its been a fun run, but in the next few weeks, I will be leaving the Lexus family. Still be in a Toyota, and still have the LS1 swap, but the SC shell is being replaced and parted out. Love the car, but I have hit that point where something different is needed.

There will be no further updates of the build. Sorry guys.

I'm starting to feel the same way about my 21 year old SC shell--the more I tear into it the more old falling apart stuff I find.

What chassis are you looking at?

I love my SC, and its not thats it old (92 SC with barely 94k miles), just getting bored with the look. Want something more aggressive. The chassis I have chosen is actually older than the SC, but no teaser yet. I will give my final farewell thread once the chassis swap is done

Well I have decided to continue moving forward and have jumped to the next step:

Borg Warner S475 1.32hotside, soon to be paired with a custom grind turbo cam, 104lb/hr injectors, water/meth injection, and a few other things. No set decision on rear diff setup yet, so going to see how long the stock n/a 4.27 rear will hold up. Looking to run 12psi low boost, 14+psi high boost till the lq4 block and 317 heads are ready to go.

Sorry for the crap picture quality, wife's phone doesnt take great pictures.

So, you're sticking with the SC400?
I can help you get more out of that turbo, if you'd like!
