Default snow chains, anyone use em?

ive been driving my sc3 in the snow for 4 years now,, but this season i am slammed on wide rims with 2 negative camber in the front and 1 in the back, so far i been taking every corner sideways. i am very scared im going to crash my baby into a curb/ditch/car/ like i see so many other people. i dont have the cash for snow tires right now and am lookin into snow chains. i did a search but couldnt find anything. anyone have experience with them? hows the ride quality at low and higher speeds? can i chain my 18's or are they for suvs n jeeps? also would you guys recommend raising my car back to stock height and stock alignment.

i wouldnt recommend chains especially if they r going on ur nice rims. chains are also illegal in some places (jersey doesnt allow passenger vehicles to use them) stock would def help do you have a set of junkyard rims to throw on ? the smaller the width of the tire to more weight per inch you have which aids in traction.

also have you thought about useing sandbags or some other form of weight in your trunk. the extra weight helps out

I've also heard chains were illegal. My mom said she used to use chains back in the 80's, but I never hear of regular cars using them now.

You may want to find some cheap stock wheels to use if possible.

The ones you would be looking for are cable chains. Check them out. Really not a substitute for winter tires though. More of an addition for when it gets really bad. Not illegal here.

Me personally, I would rent a car and get the insurance on it...in the end, it would be cheaper than wrecking your SC.

Just get some nice studded snow tires all four around...it will eat the snow alive.

2 bags of tube sand will also give you the much needed traction.

If you decided to put chains on your car...which I dont recommend (makes it ride like poo) no cop in their rightful mind is going to pull you over during a storm......but there is always that one *****

Chains are illegal in Illinois, too. I'd steer clear of putting chains on a sports car regardless the state you're in, though. Haha.

Glad to hear some of you guys are driving the SC in the snow. I have no choice at the moment as I'm buying a house and have no extra funds for a beater. I drive on stock 16"s daily with all season tires. If things get horrible outside I'll just stay home. I'm in sales anyways so I can work from the phone.

Im with turbo. Get a rental car or buy a fwd beater for $500, it wont be pretty but it will get you there and back. I put my SC away last night . but i am now driving my beater, a 1991 lincoln continental. Miss the lexus already.. but good luck with whatever you do. Oh and chains are incredibly hard on the roads and suspension components of your vehicle
