I don`t see how some people can spend 200$ on an intake? save the money they are way too hyped up. they do help yes, but I would spend the money in other places.

thanks for all the info guys, 202 is 80 less than the price on injen.com..
boredguy, how would you spend $200 for performance better than on an intake? i am curious to know, if there's more than can be done with $200, i would definitely want to hear it.

save a little more for nitrous for that extra kick?

i too think that 200 is waaay too much for a normal intake.

true, but can't nitrous be damaging to the engine? i mean, the intake doesn't do as much as nitrous, but at least it does no damage at all to the engine?

Nitrous damages engines when you abuse it. An occational 150-shot or less won't hurt. Truth is that $200 for an intake has a low power to price ratio. Any well-engineered car should not have significant power gains with a mere $200 mod. Save up for some real performance mods like engine work. Retail intake and exhaust products should be bought with the knowledge that you're buying a mere toy for your car. If you want performance intake then DIY...

Intakes like Peter's or mine are ideal because they preserve the temperature of the air going to the motor. The heat in the engine bay will quickly overcome any gains seen from the increased flow.

A mild 55 shot to 75 shot of NOS can be added for $1000 or less (I think the ZEX system is like $800)...that would add REAL power (55HP to 75HP)...an intake and exhaust don't really add real power...

But like Lex400SC said, if you abuse it, you will jack up your engine...

Hey Lex, you might want to look into that so that next Jetta 1.8T filled with some bimbos won't smoke ya...

Hehehe...the 1.8T's are actually pretty quick. I give them respect. You can really add some inexpensive HP to those engines too...why can't we have a damn factory turbo....I wish Toyota would grow some ***** and offer some Turbo setups...

very true, i mean i didn't naively expect $200 to really get you a performance boost, but while i have a vague idea of poerformance upgrades, i am no expert. for $800, a 55-75 hp upgrade using a little nitrous does sound like a good deal, without damaging the engine.

10 minutes, not bad at all. usually are there any other parts needed that would NOT come in the usual intake kit?

Define "the usual intake kit".
