Headlight question...help
hey guys, I posted in a earlier thread that I put 85watt bulbs for my low beams and they like chared the inside of the wire harness. Now one headlight doesnt turn on if I giggle the harness around it will turn on but most times after a while it goes out again. Does any one know what I can do? Preferably the fastest and cheapest way or whatever else that would work. I'm totally confused. I also have a question about windows and oil changes. My passanger side window is rolling up and down REAL slow lately. Sap fell on that window once and I THINK (not sure) after that it started going all slow. Anyone know what the problem could be or what I can do? Oh ya if I rold down both driver and pass. windows at the same time, the pass window does slow and when I let go of the drivers side button it goes a little faster and it generally goes slow when its about to close. My last qyestion is I told my mom I needed an oil change and she asked how many months its been and I was liek I dont know and she told me that Lexus told her that her car should be oil changed every 6 months. Hers is a '00 RX so I dont know if that makes a difference. I wanted to know if I should change the oil every 6 months or what. Thanx and please help if u can

Man, I don't know how many times I've told people this...DO NOT USE OVERWATTAGE BULBS. ALWAYS USE BULBS CLOSEST TO THE STOCK RATING.
What you did is you fried the harness because the bulb was drawing too much power. This is what happens when you put overwattage bulbs in your car. If you want bright headlights, do it RIGHT and get a HID kit. $450 for a 4100K kit if you get one before the end of the month....and this is a HIGH QUALITY KIT...not like most of the junk you see being sold at most "performance" shops...check the group buy thread.
Basically, you have to change or fix the harness. Go to your local dealer and see how much they sell the harness for if you can get it seperately. Otherwise, try a junk yard. Any stereo shop should be able to put it in for you. If you have SOME electrical experience, you should be able to do it yourself.
As for you window, it sounds like the motor is going bad. Again, take it to the dealership and have them give you a diagnosis. Most likely, you'll need a new window motor. Again, you can try a junk yard for this item...personally, I would buy new....
As for the window slowing down when you try to do both at the same time, that happens. Happens on my SC too...

One more quick question. I think this might be a little more serious than the other things. When I drive and the car is started and the engine temp is cool and I drive around its fine. Once the engine temp reaches normal and when I'm in I think 1st or 2nd gear and its at about 2 or 2,500rpm I hear a real weid sounds. Its almost a grinding noise but not quite. Its like when u stick a peice of paper in a fan I think. If u drive at that rpm it'll keep making that sound untill u speed up at a high prm or slow down. I cant really remember when it started. When I first got my SC I ussed to floor it a lot if that would do than then would do I do? Oh and one time I was driving normal after this noise and the engine temp kept going up to the hottest and I didnt know why. By the time I got home I could smell a really bad burning smell from the engine and when I opened it it was smoking...I ran out of collant. I filled it up and its fine but that sounds still there. It doesnt make it when I have it in parked and rev the engine or in neutral...just in drive. The car also jerks when I drive at like 30 or 40 mph with the AC on. Its almost like it can chose which gear to go into. It feels like it going to 2nd to 3rd to 2nd to 3rd until I go faster or slower. Its at a low rpm. ::sigh:: so many problems
I had a million dollar tune up which was a real bad expeirence. After I got it back It really felt like crap. The car was still feeling slow. No difference at all. When I talked to the rep they told me they changed all the fluids and checked everything. Well before I got the tune up they made the tune up sound like it was some kind of miricle drug for someone who couldnt stop smoking. I was so happy and they said it would be $600. I couldnt beleive it. Well I go back to the dealership they were telling me the cost was over $1200. Lets just say that price I have there is a LOT less than what I actually paid. When I asked them what they actually did because it didnt seem like they did anything she told me they changed the fluids and check everything. Well if they checked everything they would of noticed the AC didnt flow cold air or the cound from the engine. The jerking going at 30 to 40mph or the speedo and tach lights that werent working right. I guess when they say they checked everything they mean they checked how much money they were making. They said if I wanna find out whats wrong with the AC I have to pay 80 upfront and then they'll tell me and If I decide to pay their ridiculous high price(which was quoted at over $800 minimum). I decided that I would have to be stupid to pay them that much money after the amount I already paid. The situation about the lights they said I'd have to live with it. They did notice that I got in an accident and suggested they could fix it for me. I cant believe how badly they wanted my money. After that I dont think I would ever go back to the dealership again. My CD was messing up befor eI took it in for a tune up and they didnt notice that either since they "checked" everythign so well but I was thinking about taking it to them and asking them what I could do about that since I recently had a tune up for everything and the player is messing up. I didnt even bother because I already know the answer..."you'll have to buy a new cd changer and possibly a new cd deck". Wel F that. I'll just live with the "ERR". I dont know where I can take the car where they're actually check it and tell me whats wrong with it. If anyone knows a good place in florida near teh tampa or orlando area please please let me know I really wanna get this checked out.

As it turns our I was cleaning the leather with the soft scrub tip, which works great, and my mom walked by and noticed rust on the door THEY fixed. I am so pissed. I'm gonna raise hell like you wouldnt believe. I'm so mad now. I cant beleive how crappy of a job they're doing there. I thought the dealership would be teh best place to get the car fixed. The accident story is another long horror story...maybe I'll tell you guys soemtime..lol
