Well i finally sold the old 240 and the maxima is gone and finally have bought me a sc400 after so many yrs. Its a 95 with 143000 on the ticker i got a small list of plans for the beast but nothing over the top, but first a major question. The car has this very weird misfire i have changed spark plugs and distibutor caps and buttons and its still their. It has a rock solid idle even at crusing speeds but under heavy load there is like a cut out or misfire but it will still rev till the redline once it can get thru the misfire. Now i have every thread i could find about this problem and seems the mass airflow sensor is a common problem on these vehicles any tips on this issues are welcome.

My first order is to do a full tune up within a week or so, all the timing belt components, fuel filter, and spark plug wires and possible coil packs if it still misses under heavy load.

i posted pics below lemme know wht you think...im not a fan of the rims but they will do for now....and to the guys who are already lowered wht size tires are you guys running up front...i have a 245/45 on 18's and its already close to rubbing i do plan to lower this thing soon the 4x4 look is not working for me...and my ultimate goal for this beast is 5spd and just a clean look

Search 'sc400 hesitation', I dunno if it's the same misfire problem your talking about but it sounds similar.
Clean looking car tho, dpw ftw!

i had the same thing, when i was first taking off, or when I was going around 75-80mph... i replaced the throttle switch and that helped it at high speeds, and I cleaned the throttle body and that fixed the misfire when I first take off. hope this helps.

Welcome to the club! Nice pickup on the SC4. Check out the florida section here on CL so you can come out and meet the rest of the Orlando Lexus club next wednesday if possible.

Welcome to the forums!

On the tire size, I'd recommend getting a lower profile tire. Try a 245/40/18 or a 245/35/18 and see if that helps.
