Post Code 71: EGR...please help

Ive got a code 71: EGR gas temperature signal.

EGR system gas temperature signal too low (below 149F for at least 90 seconds). Check EGR valve, hoses, etc; EGR gas temperature sensor or curcuit; vacuum switching valve for the EGR circuit; ECU.

Anyone with suggestions? I looked up some old posts and saw something about a block off plates and resistors. Anyone with further info? Any negative effects? Positive?

And one more important thing...where exactly is the EGR stuff???

Thanks!

Yup, that's it. And the EGR Valve is underneath all those black tubes. My auto teacher suggested that I connect a long tube to the EGR valve and suck on it to create a vacuum to see if it's working. I'm not sure I want to do that...heh...we'll see.

And he suggested against removing the EGR valve, so I don't know what to do now...oh well...
