Default 1.5j questions

ok so i used the search and didnt find many answers
ive heard that the 1.5j setup has the bottom end torque of the 2j and the higher rev of the 1j
true or not?
And anyone have any answers on a parts list or wat exactly is needed?
Also i allways thought u have to have a lower compression for a turbo application...im i mistaken or do u need to lower it for the 1.5j setup?
i no everyones gana tell me to go n/a-t but i just dont like the look of the intake going over the head and i no everyones gana hate but the look of the motor means just as much to me as power...but if anyone knows a way of not having it goin over the top id love to just go na-t

Simple fix to your issue..Just buy a FFIM that replaces the over the top Intake Manifold. IMO, I just don't see the benefit in doing the 1.5JZ set up. It's been proven that there's no replacement for displacement so the 2J will always reign superior...

Good luck with whatever route you decide on!

a 1.5 is just a 1j head on a 2j block, the 1j head is an upgrade do to the larger exhaust ports.

i am also looking for people that have done this.

I'm running a 1.5jz and making 432rwhp at 14psi and 429tq. That was with a slipping clutch. I love the feel and the revs.

Well, I certainly don't know about a 1J being an upgrade?

It flows worst than both the 2JZGTE and the 2JZGE..

Thanks Klaus for the graph...

It is true, the 1j is the worst flowing of all the heads, but will get the job done and as for lowering the compression with the 1.5jz just use a TT headgasket. you could port it I guess to make it flow better.
