Default Painted Dash

Hey everyone, so I bought a bunch of black interior parts and decided im going to change the stock brown and dark brown two tone to now have the entire upper trim black. The only thing left I need to find is a dash or a way to successfully paint my dash. Anyone who has any tips or reference links I would greatly appreciate it. I am also looking for a how to on removing my steering wheel and air bag to place it on my new black steering wheel without an air bag.

Well with the steering wheel you need a steering wheel puller to take it out make sure the battery is disconnected and wait 1 hour to be safe

I never knew you had to have a steering wheel puller or even disconnect the battery? Nobody ever mentions it but it does make sense. Where do you get a steering wheel puller?

I'll try to find some links on here on painting the dash. I'm about to paint my dash and window trim as soon as I get the money for the supplies. I should have some links for you in the morning.

Well yeah you need to disconnect the battery you don't want the airbag blowing up in your face haha. And as for buyin a steering wheel puller u don't really need one but it makes the job a lot quicker it costed me about $11 for mine at a local parts store. Also I heard of people using sem spray for interior search it. Heard and seen wonders with that stuff. Good luck

Thanks, I plan to. Do you know if there is a specific color black to use to match factory good.

Does anybody care to explain or have a reference link on pulling out the dashboard? Thanks

I got a pulley puller from harbor freight for about $15. should work for the lexus wheel (works on nissans). pm me if you wanna borrow it.
but yeah, the battery is for the air bag, not the wheel it's self.

fyi, you don't need to remove the steering wheel. I painted my dash with sems yeaterday. just drop the steering column, two 14mm bolts at the bottom of the column. if you remove the wheel, at your best efforts you may need a new alignment.

Why would you need a new alignment? Pulling your steering wheel does not change your alignment. Your steering wheel may be crooked if you don't re-install it properly, but then all you have to do is pull it back off and correctly put it back on...

I think that's what he means, the steering wheel alignment. But yea, you don't have to take off the steering wheel to get the dash off.
