Default Input on intercooler sizes

So I've got alot of parts still from my turbo miata and looking to use what I can from it if I can. So I'm curious what size intercoolers you guys are running. For now it'll be low boost maybe around 350hp till I decide to step up to 20psi with a th400 etc. So the rough measurements I have of my current IC are 21x9x3 not counting the end tanks. I would assume this should be plenty fine for low power but figured I'd go ahead and see what size you guys are running for when I decide to step up. Thanks

What you have should be more than adequate for 350hp.

a big front mount should get the job done just fine. I used to use a 12x24x3.
If you are na-t w/stock intake manifold your intake temps will be higher than on a front facing gte manifold, so its a good idea to step up your cooling in this case.

When I get around to the na-t swap I'll be a FFIM too. Seems stupid to me to have the intake sitting on top of the turbo

I was thinking of using the DM greddy look alike but haven't researched it much yet

Edit: Nvm I might do the GTE top and GE lower intake conversion though

I am using the BL I/c kit which uses a precision intercooler and 2.5" piping. Its rated to 850hp but I have surpassed the efficiency a long time ago. Meth injection helps allot. I believe it measures around 12x24x2.75.

What setup do you have to surpass the efficiency of that kit and intercooler?

Any recommendations for when 2.5" pipe is considered a restriction?

Na-t built motor, Pt76gts @32psi , Th400, etc..

Not sure on what power level the 2.5" piping will become a restriction. I seam to keep on making power with every pound of boost above 30psi. Right now I have it set maxed out the wastegate spring at 32psi. I probably should increase the I/c and get rid of the stock intake manifold and throttlebody but she keeps making power so untill I feel i have maxed it out. I think I will keep it untill then. I also plan on spraying it with a 150 shot, as I need to pick up a few mph in the quarter.

I think you're beyond the power I'm wanting to run. I like high horsepower cars yes but I don't see myself going over 550hp or 20psi on a billet 6765 down the road. What kind of times are you running with that setup? Mid-low 9s???

They didnt make that intake mani with turbo in mind.

At least when you hook up Methanol / spray the NA manifold will distribute it more evenly than the GTE. You can also just insulate the intake pipe so it really is not that big a deal.

2 cents
