Red face Won't go?

Here is another one for you. My 92 sc400 has these mood swings where when you lay in to it it will move on out and then other times it is like it starts to think about it and seems to fall on its face. Any ideas? I have allready replaced the fuel filter and this seemed to help a little.

Thanks,

maybe the computer is having a freakfest.

Unplug the battery for an hour, that will reset the computer and maybe help.

That is one of the symptoms of a shagged fuel pump ECU.

Default If so, then bypassing it should solve the problem- here's how:

This thread shows how to change the ECU (remember, Bill?), and if you want to try just bybassing a (potentially faulty) ECU, the thread also discusses philauldridge's theory that the ECU is not really needed, and shows how to bypass the ECU:

For some more info on the subject, see the Supra web site:

Unhappy Thanks...but it may be worse....

Thanks for all the good info but....... I may be facing a much worse problem. Don't know yet but the overdrive light is starting to flicker. When you press the pedal all the way past full throttle and engage the kick down buttn the tranny will not down shift. It is as if you are barely pressing the pedal. After trying to press the pedal hard enough to engage the kickdown button the Overdrive light starts to fllicker. On occasion it will kick down but it seems confused as to what gear to kick down in to. I sure hope the tranny is not fried.........

The tranny is ECU controlled, use the diagnostics to see if there are eny error codes, it could be a speed sensor, try the connections on the side of the tranny, they sometimes get loose.

Default Other than the dealer........

London Bill, is there a place that I could order a code reader and find a listing of the various codes. It would be great if I could extract the codes myself.

Thanks

The J spec Soarer reads out the diag codes in a digital display on the speedo which is neat but there is no OBD reader I know of that can be plugged in, the US version is probably different though.
