I recently purchased a r154 from a member on sf. It supposeivly had 50k miles. Anyway i got it and everything looked great. The shaft can spin pretty freely. But i can only shift it into 3rd and 4th not 1/2 or 5/r, can anyone help. Something to do with the linkage maybe, i had to install he shift lever since it didn't come with one, so now when i try to shift it, it doesn't really go into gear

 

By "lever" what part of the shifter do you mean? Can you take some pics? If you remove the top of the shifter housing you will see a long rod that the shifter is attached to. Get some pics posted up and lets take a look. If all is well you will ned to unbolt the rear trans housing and have a look see.... Broken forks happen.

the bolt/nut that i bought that was supposed to hold the shift lever (what you screw your shift **** onto) is to big and was coming contact with the tripod which would only let me shift into 3/4 in which case the nut/bolt wont come into contact.



the one im pointing to is the bolt and nut that doesnt fit, the one to the right of that is exact same bolt and nut that i bought, so it turns out it was my fault. ill see what i can do to make it work

 

JUST KIDDING. IT STILL WONT GO INTO 1/2 OR 5/R

i got it to side stick by using a new a clevis rod or w/e they are called, but it still wont go into gear. i can get it near 1st but its sooo lose it falls into N

FIGURED OUT THE PROBLEM.

i took the 6 bolts off the top of the shifter area. was looking at this plastic collar that was worn out, turned out i bought one from driftmotion not to long ago thats harderned poly or w/e.. i can GLADLY say i can shift into all 5 gears.
