Default V12 Swap, hopefully...

I have a 97 SC300 and I'm going to be doing an engine swap. Originally I was going to go with a 2jz tt setup, but lately I've been looking into the Toyota 1GZ-FE V12. The only problem I'm having is finding information on what other parts I may need to complete this swap. I found a place to buy the engine, it will come with both ecu's, complete engine harness, and transmission. What i'm wondering is what mods to my rear end will I have to do? (that didn't sound right lol) I did search it and i'm not finding much info. Hopefully there's someone out there that has done this to an SC, maybe someone can direct me.

idk of anyone doing that swap to an sc however there is a guy doing it to an MK2 that MIGHT have some helpful info..since these swaps are VERY rare(most people think they are not worth the hassle when the 2jz can make sooo much power)
but would be nice to see someone doing one..anyway heres the link to the mk2 and v12

Yea it is rarely done for several reasons cost, rarity, fitment, running it, trans, power output, and you get the drift. This board is great but I don't think anyone would be able to tell you with certainty how and what you need. You could always look into top secrets swaps but as the name may suggest it will probably be difficult to get details lol. You have me curious now so I may try to look around myself.

I wish you the best of luck...
I wanted to do a swap like this on my car a while ago, but I was discouraged when I got a rough estimate of how much was needed to proceed. Heres an old thread to reference: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sc-...87947-v12.html

You don't need to do anything to your rear end as it doesn't put out much more power than a stock 1uz vvt-i. I would highly discourage this swap as there is truly no advantage to this motor vs other engines available for your car.

The only reason I'm even thinking of doing it is because the place that I'd be getting the engine from has the full engine, both ecu's, the full harness, and the transmission. I was figuring all in all, it will cost about 5k to get the engine and install it. Since I won't be letting my SC go any time soon this is going to be my project. There will be a lot of down time so I'll be driving the GS during the install.

Eventually this engine will be twin turbo. It's basically just a project for me to have fun with and eventually enter into car shows. I may end up buying another SC to do a 2jz swap.

i say do it. In the end it is your car and youll be the only one with it... who cares about practicality when its just a project.

Goodluck :]

btw 1 of the Top Secret supra has a v12...

Yea, I saw the top secret supra, that thing is a beast. I don't expect to have it to that level until years from now. I know it'll take me some time to build but i like a challenge.

here's someone who's started the swap into the SC, http://lextreme.com/forums/showthrea...ghlight=sc+1gz

you'll have to do something about the throttle, as it is DBW (drive by wire). should be a fun swap

5K won't cover the swap. fitment, drivetrain compatability, wiring, parts are huge unknowns on this side of the pond. So many empty spaces and all the time and money spent getting it you would have had a few swapped SC's in that time. IMO unless you're willing to dump HUGE $$$ into swapping it, don't do it.
