Default Knocking/rocking when idle

so i test drove the SC3 im getting, and somethings stood out to me. Firstly the engine fired right up(just incase that matters to what follows) But as i let the engine run in park, the car kind of knocked and rocked side to side. as i was driving it the knocking began to relax as i accelerated, and when i was coasting i felt the knocking slightly. however i did not feel it as i was braking.
im not asking if the car is worth buying because im buying it regardless. but can anybody help me with this one?

oh yes, the car has been sitting for 3 years, the guy im buying from said he started it up a few times but has not put fresh gas in it for about a year. only reason he doesnt drive it is because he never has time because of his job.

That's pretty interesting. I wonder what it could be.... it doesn't sound good though.

My 94 SC3 was sitting for about 3 years when I got it. It started and drove OK but has idle issues as well. 176K miles. I took a chance on it and did a full tune up, plugs, wires O2 sensors and such. I also cleaned all the carbon out of the throttle body and replaced all the VAC lines. Car runs like a dream now, no issues whatsover. AC blow cold as well.
See if you can get the service records or some info from the owner on the car. Good luck with it. I do not regret getting mine even for one second.
Do a full tune up and you should be fine .

Make sure the knock is not a rod knock

i planned on doing a full tune up. ill be highly upset if that doesn't fix something. but how much did you pay for all that? and did you D.I.Y?

its spark plugs/wires. I had the same problem, a tune up
would take care of it, check and see if there is some white
discoloration on the wires. Also if it was a rod knock, I dont
think you would get to far without it getting horrible and REALLY
noticing.
