So my mechanic spotted it and I havent seen it yet, (my wife seen it) but the bottom of the oil pan had oil all over it and he believes that its the sensor. I can get one for $595.

Before I shell out $595 or let him rig it, I imagine with some gasket seal, is there a grommet or gasket that goes bad, like I said I havent seen it installed or what it looks like so forgive my ignorance. I thought I seen on this forum or possibly another that there is a gasket that goes bad? I havent seen any oil on the garage floor and I dont seem to be loosing any oil so its not that bad yet.

 

I was thinking, could I splice the wires from the oil level sensor? I imagine it works like any other switch so by tying the two ends together it should read o.k. permanetly. And to keep an eye on things install a oil pressure guage.

I also noticed a leak by the dip stick tube. I was told that the labor for this is pretty intensive, roughly $300. They wanted to take it off and try a no name gasket/o-ring. At that point I think I'll drop the $20 the dealership wants.

Any ideas?
