Talking Help with some tint decisions

Okay the new acquisition, my SC300, needs some cosmetic work. It is bone stock. What is the best tint, IYO, for a black coupe. The guys at a shop recommended 50% for the front 3 glasses and 20% for the rear 3. Sound good? Bad?

I just had my black 95 SC400 tinted about a 2 weeks ago. The guy did my car with 15% on the back glass, sunroof, & the windshield strip, and all four sides are done in 30%. It does not look as dark as it sounds since I have the tan interior.

Id go a little darker than that. Im taking my car in this week and I think im going 5% all around minus the windsheild. I dont want to regret not going darker after I get it tinted, plus I cant take the damn heat anymore......

I went 30% all around with 3M film. If you have the tan leather interior a bronze tint looks really classy.

5% is too much for me since I value not having one more reason to be pulled over all the time. I think I will bump the front 3 to 30% and the rest at 20%.

What I dont understand is how can the cops give you a ticket for tint? Do they have a device or a chart to measure it? Cuz if not I dont see how they can ticket you......

Do you think that the bronze tint looks better than the mirror?

Also, Have you had a car that has had the windshield tinted 50%? Wouldnt it be hard as hell to see out of? And isnt any tint on the windsheild at all illegal?

I would do 30% front, 5% rear. I have 50% front and 5% rear and the fronts are still too naked look from the inside and outside. On a black car, 5% all around looks bad ***, but you'd get fix-its left and right . Some Lexuses come factory equipped with tints on the front so CA cops won't bug you if it isn't too obnoxious. Once again I recommend 30% front, 5% rear. 5% isn't dark at all, trust me. I've parallel parked and three-point turned many, many times at night with my 5% limo tint without any issues of visibility. Only time dark tints suck is when you have five hot *** girls stacked in your ride and no one else can see them . Yes, it sucks....

Hey Herrmosa,

Tint 'IS' legal on the front two...just not too dark. Ask the place you are getting it done at what the limit is. They changed that rule a few years ago.

There is a guy in Citrus Heights that does GREAT work. Eclipse Window Tinting. The guys name is Bob. He drives a CL600 Mercedes, or his Lambo Diablo to work. Tends to do a great job.

Damn, I haven't heard Citrus Heights in a long time. (I'm in Pa. now) How's Sunrise Mall? Is that place still standing?
Hey, if you ever go to Cecil's Barber Shop (next to San Juan High School) say what's up to my brother Mike!
