Question Code 13 on a 92 Sc400

Hello,

Was wondering if any one new what Code 13 was for the Engine diagnostics on a 92 SC400. The trouble I had with my car was I was getting power surges as if my gasoline had dust or particles in it. Checked the Diagnostics code and it showd 13......appreciate all the help..

Thanks.

Try and find a website that deals with OBD I(on board diagnostics).

I believe your 92 is not OBD1. OBD1 was the some late 94 and 95 models. While OBD2 is all 95 and up. Also, I believe code 13 is start of test. I am not certain on any of this, but o well. It might help. If you got the code with a key (paper clip or a piece of wire), then it is definetly not OBD1. It sounds like this was how you pulled it. And a code 13 or 12 is usually just start of test on American cars. Like I said im not sure on the Lexus. This was probaly of no benifit, but, O well, it is late.
Good Luck

Yeah, you'd probably never find anything while looking for OBD I anyhow, but I believe that code is the tach/distrubutor circuit.
It could be the didtributor, tach, tach filter(condenser in the tach's electronics),or the ecu itself.
I'd try and disconnect the tach itself to eliminate that possibility, after that maybe have the ignition checked out somewhere with a scope.
Good luck.

Thanks for the Replies guys....I cleared the code and it seems to be running fine now. I drove about 300 miles so far after clearing the code. If it happens again, I will get the distributor circuit checked out....Thanks..
