rubber plugs under car removed for towing on frame?
When I got my car towed yeaterday the tow truck driver handed me 2 rubber plugs, and said it was for the t frame? It plugs a hole on the bottom for towing, and keeps water out of the hole. He just said give it to the mechanic to put on. He had to remove it to tow the car. Strange cause another tow driver never removed it.
Are those needed? Cause I just gave it to the mechanic and Im pretty sure he just chucked it aside and forgot about it, mainly cause I forgot about it also till about now.
I dont even know the exact name and purpose.
Can someone enlighten me?
Thanks

Some towing guys refuse to use the factory tow hooks (which is BULLS**T) and instead pop the plugs and hook the frame rails (you know...the ones that the 1/4" plate tow hook's already bolted to with three large, hardened bolts ) or a frame crossmember directly. Look underneath and you'll probably see the unplugged holes about the size of a quarter. Just snap the plugs back into the open holes to keep dirt, water, etc. out.
BTW, count yourself somewhat lucky, the last guy that I had tow a car attempted (until I hollered at him) to tow the car up onto a flatbed truck by the front swaybar.
