I have a similar problem with my tilt motor. It makes a quick grind but doesn't tilt. I took out the 3 screws on the column but how do you take the column apart? I don't want to break it so I figured it's best to leave it until I find out how.

Default Tilt Steering would NOT go down

OMG!!! Thank you soooo much for this post. It was very easy to fix, and I had a spare washer in my tool box!!! I had just bought this car, and the dealer would not fix it, because they were told it would cost $600 to fix !!! It is very easy to do!

Thumbs up

WHOOO!! It worked for me! I used the washer inside an unused garden hose nozzle. Its made of rubber so i dont know how long it will last. The metal washers I had laying around were not big enough. the hose nozzle is a perfect size. I'll just bring one to home depot to match up the size. THANKS FOR SHARING THIS FIX!

I did this today super easy It only took me about 15min and that's only because I used a metal washer and had to make the hole bigger with a drill bit and drill!!! Very happy with the outcome

My attempt was not successful... wasn't able to remove the screw from underneath the steering column. Maybe it's stripped? It felt like the screwdriver wasn't even grabbing the head, but the head did not look stripped.

I'm going to see if my mechanic can get the screw out... then I will finish the job myself. They swore I'd have to replace the motor... Lol.. I guess they don't read this forum

I just did this the other day. Works great! I got 3 rubber washers, put 2 on the back side and one on the front. Works like a charm! Thanks for the info!!!!!
