plug under middle cupholder????
I removed the cupholder in front of the armrest to clean it up and found plug looking thingy by itself, for what I can recall, looks like a 6 point connector, white, wonder if anyone knows what is it for?, I dont have neither trac nor heated seats so I wonder if is it maybe for the heated seats?? or a mysterious gadget we haven't found yet?? <heck, the car comes prewired for 1157 bulb and yet comes with a 1156, the eary LS's come with a build in radar that is disconnected..> god knows how many things were planned for this cars and werent used just to save costs...
yeah, I found a big connector under the driver side of my back seat - I know the Japanese Soarers came with sonar reversing sensors, telescoping curb feelers - - who knows what the hell it's for?
The one you found under the cupholder may be for the cell phone, which mounts in the center armrest compartment - -

If you remove the left plastic cover on the steering wheel, you'll see a plug. I think on the newer model SC's come with a radio tuner thing on the steering wheel right?
I saw it when I was removing the torx screws when I was installing my airbag.
Is it possible to buy that piece and plug it in for the older model SC's to have a radio remote control there?
I'll look into it more later this week!

well I posted a picture a while ago asking what some buttons on the steering wheel of a sc i found on ebay were for, they were the controls for the phone, if the car came with it, interesting , then lets ask, has anyone else find any more of these 'mysterious' plugs???

My '93 SC4 has the original dealer-installed Lexus phone - its controls are on the left side of the steeering wheel hub - and the phone interfaces with the stereo so the speakers mute when the phone rings and the RF speaker becomes the speakerphone - the mic for the spkrphone is on that button panel on the wheel - of course it's an analog phone and I can't get service for it locally, so it's so much dead weight.
And the connector I found under the driver side of the back seat is a big one, and it looks like there are spare tiedowns for another harness across the car under the front edge of the back seat. Maybe it would lead to something in the passenger side rear fender, behind the rear seat armrest? Isn't that where the fuel pump ecu is?
One of these days I'm gonna buy a set of manuals and wiring diagrams for my car - $$ - but they're for the US SC's, and prolly won't include any Soarer stuff that the car may be prewired for but wasn't offered here - -

The "Soarer" was offered with a long list of options,
TV/Navigation system in the console, reversing camera in the rear spoiler, sonar parking sensors, sonic door mirrors, telescopic parking aid in front fender, even leather & sunroof was option on most models.
In my console there are several plugs not doing anything, like most manufacturers they only built one wiring loom to cover all models/options.
I have seen a few cars without a sunroof, they look really smooth, my next Soarer will not have a sunroof.

Yeah, I have one large connector there that's in use, and a harness that goes across from driver to passenger side, and another connector on the driver side that's not used - and yes I have a cd changer (Nak system).
My best guess is the spare connector is for something for JDM.
I read on the UK LSOC site that the "sonic mirrors" have a vibrator of some sort in the mirror housing that makes the mirror shake in freezing weather to shed ice - I don't know if it's in lieu of the heater or in addition to it.
